We offer a Master level postgraduate programme with early exits at Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma levels. The programme suite is offered in distance learning part-time mode.

What are the major features of the programme?

  • Currency: Internet technology is the very current area in computing and IT.

  • Multi-stage study: The programme suite offers early exit points at PCMIT (20 credits) and PDITA (40 credits). Students can get reward to their effort quicker.

  • Credit exemption: Students may save time if they already have a postgradaute qualification from a recognized institution.

  • Cost: About $67K for MSCITIA, ~42K for PDITA, and ~$21K for PCMIT*

  • Flexible: Students may choose to attend face-to-face classes or study at home

How many credits can be exempted with my postgraduate qualification?

If you already have a postgraduate degree from a recognized institution, you may be eligible for credit exemption if you pursue our postgraduate programmes. The maximum is 30 credits towards the 60 credit MSCITIA.

How can I study the programme in stages?

The following shows two possible ways to study the programme.

Students may study 20 required credits to obtain PCMIT. Students completed PCMIT may study 20 additional required credits to obtain PDITA. Then they can study the remaining 20 credits to obtain MSCITIA.

 

 

What is distance learning study mode like?

Distance learning mode is different from fulltime mode in the following aspects:

 

  • Flexible in the time to complete the programme*

  • Flexible in number of credits taken per year. Students may opt to rest for a time and return later*

  • Attendance at classes is optional

  • More straightforward assessment tools involving mainly assignments and a final examination

  • A comprehensive set of course materials allowing you to study at anytime and any place.

  • All postgraduate courses offered by the computing programme team supports video recording of tutorials, allowing students to review if missing the classes.

 

* As long as the programme remain in offer.

 

Are there classes in distance learning mode?

Distance learning courses do offer hours of face-to-face classes. Most courses offered by the computing programme team offer around 40 to 50 hours of face-to-face classes. So there are plenty of opportunities to interact with tutors and peers. The main difference from fulltime mode is that attandance at most of these classes are optional.

 

The computing programme team is currently developing a flexible learning mode, which offers lectures+video recordings in distance learning courses. We will gradually introduce this learning mode to most computing postgraduate courses starting from Oct 2010.
