Sharing by Fulltime Computing Students
全日制電腦學系學生心聲

 

We are proud to have a group of hard-working and hard-playing face-to-face computing students. They remember to keep their study life balance with various indoor and outdoor activities. The close knit group has regular sport sessions (badminton and table tennis) and from time to time a trip to the NT. Academic staff members were also invited to share nice BBQ chicken wings too!

I graduated from the associated degree in 2006 and I was perplexed at joining the workforce. I believed I was not as competitive as the university graduates in the same field, and so I decided to continue my study at the OUHK. I have never regretted the decision. During these two years at the OUHK, I made new friends and shared our life experience. Lecturers and classmates were friendly and helpful. I have learned many practical skills which are very useful in my job. Learning at the OUHK not only broadens my horizon, and also helps me to build up confidence in my ability. I am now ready to begin my career and I have prepared myself for further studies in the future.

自己在公開大學三年的學習生活內，體驗到電腦系中每位教授及講師對教學的熱誠，與及對同學的支持。作為一所大學，傳授知識固然重要。但公開大學所做到不止於此，而是能夠培養同學對學科進一步的興趣與發掘，這點對於電腦科目尤其重要。

公開大學在硬件配套上的而且確仍有改善地方，然而自己覺得應付教學上的需要仍綽綽有餘。加上大學不斷增設及更新各種電腦設備，令同學倍感方便。值得一提就是公開大學設計的電腦課程。身為一位畢業生，在比較本港其他大學同類型的課程，修讀的範疇對工作都起上更實際、更實用的功效。

由於得到了大學的悉心栽培，所以學術方面受內外界肯定，並獲頒獎學金及浸會大學取錄攻讀碩士學位。因此，我認為公開大學的學生，要相信自己在大學內學習的成果。無論選擇升學或就業，都不需擔心來自其他院校學生的競爭。


譚文裕 Felix Tam

自從IVE畢業後, 由於能夠直接以Year3入學, 所以選擇了申請OU學位. 最初的確會有教材師資方面的憂慮, 但開學不久以後每種憂慮也消失了.

以這一年所見, 教師們給我的感覺都十分熱心講解課題及解答學生疑難; 各種問題都有問必答. 同時亦會兼顧堂上學生整體進度而編理講解內容. 老實說, 當中我因能從此加深明白課程內容而得益不少, 這點可算是OU 比其他大學優越之處.

教材方面, 雖然不能如其他大學同級比較, 但挑剔的我也能對校內一切教學用器材感到滿意, 並不會減少學習意欲.

在公開大學第一年的生活, 可算是非常之充實, 我在 1999 年 至 2004 年間於澳洲就讀中學和部份大學課程. 但因為經濟上的問題要返回香港繼續學業, 由於沒有考過會考同 A-Level, 所以很難找到合適的學院, 當時真的感到很無奈, 幸好公開大學在 04年開辦 全日制電腦榮譽學士學位並取錄了我. 在過去的一年裏, 在各出色導師的照料下, 我在學業方面有長足的進展, 相信是不會較其他大學的學生遜色.

而同學之間也有互相交換對科技上心得, 舉辦一些戶外活動同定時的球類活動, 也會參加一些電腦講座, 這些都令我們校園生活更加充實.

我於中七畢業後升讀公開大學的互聯網科技榮譽電腦學學士學位課程, 可能因為首屆開辦, 人數較少, 上課時師生之間更互動, 大家反應很熱烈. 講師強調希望我們有愉快的學習生活, 我們也被他們的教學熱誠和樂觀態度所感染.

I joined OUHK's Bachelor of Computing in Internet Technologies last year and I have never looked back because it is one of the best decisions I've ever made. The lecturers are friendly and are very helpful. The course contents are well matched to those in real life situations. I'm now preparing to attend second year of the program and I know I'm going to love it as much as my first year at OUHK.

To speak the truth, I never heard of OUHK offering full-time programme before I applied for the Computing Programme. However I'm glad I did because I really enjoyed the year 1 study at OUHK. The small group size not only allows us to have quality time with instructor, we also get to know each other better in the process. In class we have fun learning new materials, and in our spare time we enjoy playing sports and other activities together. Overall I enjoy the first year studying at OUHK and now looking forward to the 2nd year of the study.
