New donations acknowledged

Jockey Club lends further support

The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust has pledged support to the University again by providing a grant of $15 million to furnish and fit out the Regional Learning Centre. The project aims at providing students with better-equipped classrooms and learning facilities at a convenient location.

Over the past years, the Trust has contributed $97 million to make possible several major projects of the University including the campus construction, Disabled Students Resources Centre, Environmental Laboratory, Technology Laboratory, Multimedia Laboratory and Electronic Library.

Anniversary celebration draws 50-plus sponsors

The Tenth Anniversary programme has received encouraging support from more than 50 companies and individuals with a $570,000 sponsorship.

Diamond sponsorship: Mr Bankee Kwan Pak-hoo, Celestial Asia Securities Holdings Limited (Tenth Anniversary Essay Competition and Student Delegation to Beijing), Lam Kin Chung Morning Sun Charity Fund (LibrariansŐ Roundtable and Specialized Workshop on 'Institutional research in open and distance learning'), Fok Ying Tung Foundation Limited.

Silver sponsorship: Wing Hang Bank (Wing Hang Bank Financial Seminar Series), Cable & Wireless HKT (Public Lecture on 'Impact of IT in Hong Kong').

World Bank InfoDev Fellowship Fund supports Librarians' Roundtable
For the second year, the World Bank InfoDev Fellowship Fund has pledged support to the Librarians' Roundtable hosted by the OUHK. Nine delegates from developing countries will receive grants totalling US$15,000 from the fund to take part in the roundtable in October.
Sino-British Fellowship Trust boosts grants
The Sino-British Fellowship Trust has granted an additional £5,000 of visitorship to the OUHK for strengthening the academic exchanges with the mainland and the UK. The Trust will also increase the annual visitorship grant to £15,000 starting from next year.
New scholarships and bursaries

The OUHK has received more scholarships and bursaries, including three scholarships of $10,000 donated by Mr Dickson Wong, $50,000 Wing Hang Bank scholarships for business students, $20,000 from the Lam Kin Chung Morning Sun Charity Fund and $10,000 from the Hong Kong Society of Accountants. Miss Gladys Li also contributed a bursary of $32,000 to help students with disabilities, prison inmates and new arrivals. The Bursary Fund has been boosted further by Mr Lau Tung-hoi who has given his third year's donation of $20,000. The KP Tin Foundation has continued its annual grant to the Bursary Fund for Prison Inmates. Its contribution in the past four years totals $240,000.
