The OUHK Press will publish a commemorative book to mark the Tenth Anniversary of the University. This bilingual edition will be a combination of history written by key people at the OUHK, and human interest stories in the form of interviews and features.

Divided into parts corresponding to various stages of the development of the OUHK, the book looks back through planning, the first years, the move to the new campus, and forward to the new millennium. It shows how a small group of dedicated staff members overcame the obstacles of time, space, and sceptism to turn the idea of open and distance learning into a reality that all Hong Kong can be proud of.

The book will be available in November, but you can order anytime.

Following the success of the 12th Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU) Conference, held at the OUHK in November of last year, the OUHK is publishing a book, The Asian Distance Learner, which contains a selection of the papers presented at the conference. Authors from distance learning institutions across Asia share their experience and research findings on a variety of issues relevant to distance educators. Some of the common themes emerging from the papers include: access; course design; learner support; the use of technology; opportunities for collaboration between institutions; and the effects of culture on approaches to study and achievement.
