The OUHK's Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) Degree Programme was first presented by the OUHK in 1994. This degree programme has now completed its cycle of presentation with the first graduates congregated in December 1998. Some local universities have already admitted a couple of these graduates into their higher degree programmes in nursing. The Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) programme went through a revalidation exercise in May. Prof. Alan Pearson, the External Programme Assessor, commented that the programme was an excellent example of an accelerated programme of high quality, producing graduates who went on to complete higher degrees in nursing. Prof. Pearson also considers the dropping of the two years of post-registration experience, as an entry requirement, a sensible move. This is because the content of pre-registration nursing programmes in Hong Kong has increased in sophistication and rigour to a level where progression to a conversion honours degree is appropriate. The Programme Revalidation Committee recommended the Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) Degree Programme be revalidated for presentation for the next four years. |
