The OUHK was one of ten government departments and non-governmental organizations invited by the Information Technology and Broadcasting Bureau of the Hong Kong SAR Government to take part in the China International Municipal Information Infrastructure and Administration Exhibition 2000 in Beijing from 23 to 26 November last year.

Through participating in the exhibition -- one of the most important nationwide IT events of the year -- the OUHK hoped to demonstrate its achievements in the application of IT to teaching and learning, as well as learn more about the mainland's IT infrastructure.

The exhibition was co-organized by the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the Ministry of Information Industry, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Municipal People's Governments of Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin and Chongqian. Around 250 organizations from all over China set up display booths at the exhibition, which was open to professionals in the field as well as the general public.
