Dear Sir/Madam,
Re: Postponement of the AAOU 2001 Annual Conference to 21-23 February 2002
I refer to the above matter and regret to inform you that the Conference Organising Committee in IGNOU, New Delhi (with the endorsement of the AAOU Secretariat), has taken the decision to postpone the XV Annual Conference scheduled for 1-3 November 2001 to 21-23 February 2002.
The revised dates for the main conference and pre-conference activities are as follows:
| a) 18 and 19 February 2002: | AAOU Quality Assurance Guide Workshop |
| b) 20 February 2002: | i) AAOU Executive Board Meeting (AM) |
| ii) AAOU General Board Meeting (PM) | |
| iii) Outreach Library Services for Distance Learners Workshop | |
| c) 21-23 February 2002: | AAOU main Conference |
| d) 24 February 2002: |
Optional post conference trip to visit the Taj Mahal in Agra (subject to confirmation) |
This decision was taken in response to security and safety concerns expressed by many intending participants consequent to the armed conflict currently taking place in nearby Afghanistan, which has, unfortunately, increased the risk of travel to the region. Hopefully, the conflict can be satisfactorily resolved after a short period and peace can return to the region soon.
Any inconvenience caused is much regretted and we look forward to meeting you
and your colleagues in New Delhi early next year. I should be most grateful
if you can kindly circulate this information amongst your staff.
