Million Dollar Matching Challenge

The University is constructing the OUHK Jockey Club Institute of Healthcare on Sheung Shing Street, Ho Man Tin. While a range of construction work and fundraising efforts is underway and going full steam ahead, Council Chairman Mr Michael Wong generously contributed $1 million last September to launch the ‘Million Dollar Matching Challenge’, under which each donation from the OUHK community was matched on a dollar-for-dollar basis by 31 March 2018. The campaign was kicked-off at a ceremony cum fun day held on 17 September 2017. The unveiling ceremony of Donor Wall was held on the same occasion.

Since the launch, responses have been most encouraging and the target had been reached in early March. The University is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the campaign with $1,018,740 raised from the OUHK family and beyond, exceeding the original target by $18,740. By virtue of the generosity of Mr Michael Wong, all donations were fully matched, totalling the overall contribution to $2,037,480. As the 7th Government Matching Grant Scheme has also been launched, the donations will have a chance to match the grant and help us get extra resources for our development projects.

We are greatly indebted to each and every donor for their gifts and contributions, and look forward to continuing our joint efforts towards the development of the OUHK Jockey Club Institute of Healthcare and promoting Hong Kong as a healthy city.
