Fees, Scholarships and Financial Assistance

Fees payable by each student comprise tuition fees and where applicable, practicum fee and laboratory fee.

 

(a) Tuition Fees

 

Fees are collected for each term when a student enrolls in one or more courses.  Tuition fees are charged according to the credits of courses taken by the student.

 

Depending on the courses actually taken, typical tuition fees payable by full-time students are given in the table below for 2012-2013 academic year.

 (b) Practicum Fee and Laboratory Fee

 

* In some programmes, students are required to undertake practical work.  A practicum fee or laboratory fee is chargeable.

 

All fees are subject to a yearly review.

 

Scholarships

 

The University has been allocated with about ninety Outstanding Performance Scholarships under the HKSAR Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship Scheme in the current academic year.  Students in the full-time degree and sub-degree programmes will be selected for the scholarships based on academic performance; leadership and communication skills; contribution to the University and community and strong commitment to the Hong Kong community.

 

Graduates of our full-time degree or sub-degree programme will be selected for nomination to compete for the Best Progress Awards under the HKSAR Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship Scheme, based on students’ improvement in academic performance during the course of study.

 

The University also has a number of scholarships awarded to students based on academic performance.

 

Financial Assistance

 

Students are eligible to apply for financial support through the Government's Financial Assistance Scheme for Post-secondary Students (FASP), or the Non-means Tested Loan Scheme for Post-secondary Students (NLSPS). In addition, interest-free tuition fee loans are available to students who are OUHK MasterCard holders.
