    Biography

    Mrs. Lam was born in Hong Kong and received secondary school education in True Light Girls’ College. She graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic with a Professional Diploma in Quantity Surveying and became a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 1988 by examination. Mrs. Lam earned her Master of Science in Real Estate Development from the University of Hong Kong in 1996 and her Master of Applied Science in Safety Management from the University of Western Sydney in 2003. She was elected fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 1999. She is currently a Registered Professional Surveyor in Quantity Surveying and Property and Facility Management divisions and a Registered Safety Officer.

    Academic & Professional Experience

    Mrs. Lam started her career as a professional surveyor in Levett & Bailey in 1985. She was the surveyor-in-charge of many sizable projects including public and private residential developments, prestigious office complexes, hotels, hospitals and institutional complexes. Mrs. Lam joined the Hong Kong Housing Society in 1991 as a surveying manager responsible for administering construction contracts, costs and budgetary control and contract standardization of the Society’s developments. She joined the Open Learning Institute of Hong Kong in 1994 to take charge of its Homantin Campus Phase I development and facility management. In the past years, Mrs. Lam has been a key professional staff in the establishment of the University’s portfolio. Mrs. Lam assumed the directorship of the Facilities Management Unit in 2015 and is now responsible for the University’s strategic physical resources planning and development, facilities management and operations, occupational safety and health, environmental preservation and sustainability, supports and service to students as well as general administration of the University.

    Selected Professional & Community Services

    • Mrs. Lam is an active member of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors. She has served as the panel assessor and interviewer for the HKIS Quantity Surveying Division Assessment of Professional Competence for many years. In addition to serving her own professional field, she has also been appointed as a member of the Panel of Film Censorship Advisers from 2008 to 2014.
