    Biography

    Andrew Lui joined this university in 2000 as an Assistant Professor, and was appointed Associate Professor and Programme Leader of Computing in 2006. He was concurrently appointed as the Associate Dean of the School of Science and Technology between 2012 and 2019. He was given the title of Professor in 2016.  After spending over 14 years in educational administrations in various capacities, he returned to research and teaching in 2020 and is now focusing on machine learning algorithms and applications as well as technology in education.

    He received the university's President's Award of Teaching Excellence in 2016, the President's Award for Distinguished Achievement in 2016 as the leader of the Computing programme team, the IBM Faculty Award in 2012, and the HK ICT Awards Professional Development Category Bronze Award as the leader of the Master of Science in Information Technology in 2012. He was the recipient of the Best Practice in Flexible Learning Award in the International Conference in Open and Flexible Education in 2015.

    He considers himself a practitioner of innovative education. He enjoys mentoring student contestants in local and regional competitions. As a direct supervisor or co-supervisor, his undergraduate and reseach students have won over 30 prizes and awards since 2013.

    Biography
