    Welcome from the President

Professor Yuk-Shan WongFirst, a warm welcome to all of you. Here you will find the latest updates on our course offerings and our major events, as well as a unique open learning platform that allows you to gain free access to some of our course materials.

This website represents an exemplification of the strongly upheld value of the Open University of Hong Kong. Established in 1989 by the Hong Kong Government, OUHK altogether has 5 schools, namely the School of Arts & Social Sciences, Lee Shau Kee School of Business & Administration, School of Education & Languages, School of Science & Technology and the Li Ka Shing Institute of Professional & Continuing Education. Through them, we have been providing open and flexible learning for all those aspiring to quality higher education. Whether it be learning at a distance for those adult learners or full-time studies for the young secondary school leavers, we are committed to providing them with a holistic education that focuses on individual strengths and talents. In short, we aim to cater for education for all through multi-mode means to cope with individual needs.

Today we have over 12,000 distance-learning (DL) students and 7,000 full-time (FT) students at OUHK with more than 240 programmes of studies. The OUHK spirit is a culmination of a relentless pursuit of academic excellence and a creative approach to learning and teaching. Reaching out to our next generation and across the borders through advanced web technologies has been our principal goal in the past 25 years.

As OUHK celebrates its Silver Jubilee, we will continue to soldier on in the region as one of the leading Open Universities in Asia, including Hong Kong and beyond. Dedicated to a noble mission of broadening our experience in open learning, and the creation of knowledge that is not bound by a physical parameter, I have much pleasure in inviting you to share our passion by knowing more about OUHK through this website.
