    Course Title

    Train the Trainer Course in Arboriculture

    Course Aim

    The course aims to enhance the training techniques and skills of trainers in the field of arboriculture, with a specific focus on topics such as Tree Climbing, Tree Pruning, Chainsaw Safety & Cutting and OHS in Arboriculture.

    Learning Outcomes

    Upon course completion, trainees will be able to:
    a. Master the techniques and skills in teaching arboriculture courses;
    b. Select and design appropriate teaching/learning activities, resources and assessment based on relevant theories and in alignment with course learning outcomes;
    c. Suggest strategies to manage participants’ learning and participation effectively; and
    d. Explain the concept and principles of outcome-based education and learning outcomes relating to QF level courses.

    Admission Requirements

    a. Practitioners in arboriculture/ landscaping/ horticulture for over 8-10 years of experience.
    b. Have a keen interest to become practical instructors at OUHK LiPACE.

    Medium of Instruction

    Lectures would be conducted in Cantonese supplemented with English terminology as appropriate. Notes are in English/ Chinese.

    Course Duration and Venue

    a. The 30-hour course will to be held on 14, 21 August 2021 and 4 September (Sat) at 09:00-13:00, 14:00-18:00; 16 August and 6 September 2021 (Mon) at 19:00-22:00.
    b. The training will be conducted in Kwai Hing Campus, Lai King Campus and/ or Hok Tau Nursery.


    Course assessments include but not limited to Class Performance, Test and Teaching Demonstration. Students are required to achieve an overall pass in the assessment and have an attendance of 100% in order to pass the course. The passing mark is 50.

    Course Fee

    There will be a screening of course applicants for assessing their suitability to join the Course. Successful applicants will be enrolled to the course which is free of charge.
