Mobile learning on the go! — The OUHK iBookcase app

The OUHK has always been committed to promoting learning effectiveness and flexibility. To achieve this goal, the University is constantly striving to improve its methods of course delivery. The most recent endeavour is the launch of the OUHK iBookcase. This is an in-house developed mobile app which aims to promote mobile learning. Numerous studies have shown that mobile learning is a powerful way to engage learners in their study and enhances their broader learning experience.

In order to encourage students to make full use of mobile learning via iBookcase app, the University will launch a Mobile Learning Engagement Incentive Scheme starting from the 2017 Autumn Term. Students will be eligible for a HK$500 incentive if they have downloaded and used iBookcase app for studies (Terms and conditions apply).

Mobile Learning Engagement Incentive Scheme

In order to encourage students to make full use of mobile learning via iBookcase app, the University will launch a Mobile Learning Engagement Incentive Scheme starting from the 2017 Autumn Term to the 2020 Spring Term.

This scheme is applicable to both full-time and part-time OUHK students at sub-degree, undergraduate, postgraduate and research postgraduate levels (excluding LiPACE students). Students will be eligible for a HK$500 incentive if they have fulfilled all of the following requirements:

Requirements:

Students must have:

1. downloaded the iBookcase app onto their personal tablets (smartphones not included). Currently, iBookcase is only compatible with Android and iOS operating systems;
2. made use of the iBookcase app for their studies, such as browsing the app, using the embedded learning tools, etc.;
3. enrolled on an initial course between the 2017 and 2019 Autumn Terms;
4. completed and passed this course* in or before the 2020 Spring Term; and
5. subsequently enrolled on a second course within the next three terms, up to and including the 2020 Spring Term.
* Students should note if they can complete the initial course on or before the 2020 Spring Term:
  If the initial course occupies one term of study, students must have enrolled on it in or before the 2019 Autumn Term.
  If the initial course occupies two terms of study, students must have enrolled on it in or before the 2019 Summer Term.
  If the initial course occupies three terms of study, students must have enrolled on it in or before the 2019 Spring Term.
  The above information is for reference only. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that their course completion time allows them eligibility to this incentive scheme.

Obtaining incentives:

Students need to complete an application form via the iBookcase app in May, August and November for the duration of the scheme. Students will need to submit their bank account information through the app to apply for the incentive (To protect students’ privacy, bank information submitted via the app will be encrypted). Bank account information must be submitted within one month. Late submissions will not be accepted.

The University will confirm students’ eligibility. If the student does not have outstanding/unpaid fees, the HK$500 incentive will be credited to his/her bank account within 2 months after he/she submits the bank account information.

Note:
Each student is only eligible for a single HK$500 incentive as part of the Mobile Learning Engagement Incentive Scheme. Should any dispute arise, the decision of the University shall be final. The web version shall prevail should there be any changes to the details of the scheme.
