    Specific Entrance Requirement on Alternative Qualifications in Chinese Language (ACL)
    Non-Chinese-speaking (NCS) applicants, who have met the specified circumstances as announced by the Education Bureau (EDB), can use the following alternative qualifications to replace HKDSE Chinese Language Level 3 to fulfil the entrance requirements for Chinese Language.
    • DSE Applied Learning Chinese : Attained
    • GCE (A-Level / AS -Level) Chinese: Grade E or above
    • GCE (O-Level) / GCSE / IGCSE Chinese : Grade E or above
    However, the following undergraduate programmes require a higher level of Chinese Language proficiency. Please find the specific entrance requirements on ACL in table below.

    The Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions / Sectors (SSSDP) programme:
    JUPAS Code (SSSDP) Programme Title Specific Entrance Requirements on ACL
    JSSU12 Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Creative Writing and Film Arts Waiver of the HKDSE Chinese Language requirement will NOT be granted.
     
    Self-financing Programmes:
    JUPAS Code Programme Title Specific Entrance Requirements on ACL
    JS9011 Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Chinese Waiver of the HKDSE Chinese Language requirement will NOT be granted.
    JS9013 Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Language Studies and Translation Specific Entrance Requirements on ACL:
    HKDSE Applied Learning Chinese: Attained with Distinction
    GCE (A-Level/ AS-Level) Chinese: Grade A or above
    GCE (O-Level) / GCSE / IGCSE Chinese Grade A or above
    JS9550 Bachelor of Language Studies with Honours (Applied Chinese Language Studies) Waiver of the HKDSE Chinese Language requirement will NOT be granted.
    JS9560 Bachelor of Education with Honours (Chinese Language Teaching) and Bachelor of Language Studies with Honours (Applied Chinese Language Studies) Waiver of the HKDSE Chinese Language requirement will NOT be granted.
    JS9570 Bachelor of Language Studies with Honours (Bilingual Communication) and Bachelor of Global Business with Honours Waiver of the HKDSE Chinese Language requirement will NOT be granted.
