Question: What is the Programme code and JUPAS code?
Answer:

Bachelor of Nursing with Honours in General Health Care

- Programme code: BNHGJ1

- JUPAS code: SU40 (Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors)

 

Bachelor of Nursing with Honours in Mental Health Care

- Programme code: BNHMJ1

- JUPAS code: SU50 (Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors)

   
Question: Is there any admission interview?
Answer: There will be an admission interview for selected applicants satisfying the admission requirements.
   
Question: When does the programme commence?
Answer: The programme commences in September in each academic year.
   
Question: How much is the tuition fee? Can I apply financial assistance?
Answer: The tuition fee depends on the number of credits and the level of courses taken in that academic year. Please refer to the university website for details. Students can apply financial assistance through the Student Financial Assistance Agency.
   
Question: Does this programme consider the applicants’ health-related working experience?
Answer: This programme considers applicants’ health-related working experience, no matter it is paid or unpaid in nature. However, applicants should have fulfilled the entry requirements before they can be considered for admission.
   
Question: What is the main difference between general nursing practice and psychiatric nursing practice?
Answer:

General nursing practice mainly focuses on taking care of the clients who have physical health problems. By providing professional nursing interventions, psychosocial support and comfortable environment, nurses can facilitate client rehabilitation, health promotion and disease prevention. General nursing practice can be further divided into different specialties such as surgical nursing, medical nursing, peadiatric nursing, geriatric nursing and oncology nursing.

Psychiatric nursing practice mainly focuses on taking care of the clients who have mental health problems. By providing professional nursing interventions and therapeutic environment, nurses can also facilitate client rehabilitation, health promotion and disease prevention. Psychiatric nursing practice can be further divided into different specialties such as psychiatric child and adolescent nursing, psychiatric adult nursing, psychogeriatric nursing, forensic psychiatric nursing and community psychiatric nursing.
   
Question: What is the duty pattern when a student is having practicum?
Answer: Students in the practicum have irregular duty hours, shift duty and night duty. The duty pattern is arranged by the hospital/clinical venue.
   
Question: Where can I get the general information about the full-time degree programmes?
Answer: You can get the information from the university website for full-time degree programmes.

 

For JUPAS Applicants

Question: Which JUPAS band should I place the programme so that I can have higher chance for interview?
Answer: Band A and B.
   
Question: When will the interview take place?
Answer: The interview will take place after the release of HKDSE results.

 

For non-JUPAS Applicants

Question: Where can I get the information such as the procedures for direct application, tuition fee and financial assistance?
Answer: You can get the information from the university website for full-time programmes.
   
Question: Can I apply before my academic result is released?
Answer: You can submit your application form beforehand. Once your academic result is released, please send it to the university so that your application can be proceeded.
   
Question: When can I receive the application result?
Answer: After you have submitted the application form, you will receive the initial result in about one month. If you have the chance for attending the interview, you will be informed whether you are being admitted right after the interview.
   
Question: I am currently studying in a nursing programme in another university. Can I enter your programme in the second study year?
Answer: All the students should enter the programme in the first study year, irrespective of their background. Students should have successfully completed the five-year programme before they can get the academic and professional qualification.
   
Question: Does this programme admit mature student who does not fulfill the entry requirements?
Answer: According to the admission policy of the university and the requirements set by the Nursing Council of Hong Kong, this programme only considers applicants who have fulfilled the entry requirements.
