Leadership and Entrepreneurial Development Programme (in Collaboration with Dale Carnegie Training®)

The Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration collaborates with Dale Carnegie Training® to provide trainings and workshops to students in the hope of equipping them with practical business and leadership skills and thus, granting them a distinct competitive edge in the ever-changing business world.
 
Hosted by Dale Carnegie Training®, Leadership and Entrepreneurial Development Programme is embedded in the course BUS B328F Investigating Entrepreneurial Opportunities which is a 10-credit undergraduate level course. The course is designed to enable students to develop and refine their innovative ideas for new ventures and to test if the new ventures could become viable and successful enterprises.
 
The Leadership and Entrepreneurial Development Programme consists of two phases:

Phase 1: Business Leadership Development Workshops
 
Embedded in the course BUS B328F Investigating Entrepreneurial Opportunities, Business Leadership Development Workshops consist of 6 sessions. Students can learn leadership skills in business sector through attending the workshops.
 
Certificate of attendance will be issued to students who have attended AT LEAST FIVE workshops in Phase 1.
 
The schedules of the workshops are as follows:
 
 
 
First Workshop: Project a Business Professional Image
  • Discuss the contributing factors of making a strong positive impression (How we look, how we act, what we say, and how we say it)
  • How to dress appropriately in different business occasions
  • Understand the connection between behavior and image
  • Become aware of our destructive and constructive behaviors that may holds us back or move us forward in our professional career
  • Ways to project our confidence and gain trust from other business professionals
 
Second Workshop: Build Memorable Impression and Open Career Doors through Networking
  • Increase our abilities to network professionally
  • Tips to maximize the networking event
  • Improve our skills in building productive relationships
  • How to break in and move on
  • Maximize rapport-building in our conversations
  • Create a self-commercial for yourself
 
Third Workshop: How to Build Your Personal Brand via Social media
  • The value of business social media for personal branding
  • Identify the basic features of the top 5 business social media sites (LinkedIn, Facebook, Youtube, Blog & Twitter)
  • How to utilize different social media platform to sell yourself
  • Do’s and Don’ts in different social media platforms
 
Fourth Workshop: Winning Cooperation Across Generations
  • Work with and communicate more effectively with diverse generations
  • Connect with and gain buy-in from different generations
  • Provide sincere recognition and appreciation that motivates each generation
 
Fifth Workshop: Diversity: Global Travel and Culture
  • Understand the challenges of business travel to other countries
  • Learn basic guidelines for understanding global business cultures
  • Develop more awareness of cultural differences
  • Make a more professional impression in other countries
 
Sixth Workshop: Business Presentation Skills
  • Qualities of outstanding presenters and presentations
  • 12 qualities of outstanding business professional presenters
  • 12 ways to minimize fear and anxiety presenting in different business occasions
  • The importance of preparation and knowing our audience
  • Review the basic structure of crucial business presentations
  • Ways of opening and closing that make a memorable impression
  • Manage Q & A sessions effectively
  • Tips to build rapport with the audience
 

Phase 2: "Skills For Success" Programme
 
There are 10 sessions in the "Skills For Success" Programme in the form of experiential learning, personal coaching, group activities and Business Fair. Upon completion of the programme, students are deemed to master the capabilities needed in today’s business environment by learning to strengthen interpersonal relations, manage stress, and handle fast-changing workplace conditions and finally become persuasive communicators, creative problem-solvers, and confident, enthusiastic future leaders.
 
The "Skills For Success" Programme consists of 10 sessions:

Build a Foundation for Success
  • Learn methods to connect with others
  • Familiarize ourselves with the Five Drivers of Success
  • Expand our capacity to achieve our vision by committing to breakthroughs
Recall and Use Names
  • Focus on people as individuals
