The Research Institute for Digital Culture & Humanities (RIDCH), the first of its kind in Hong Kong, was officially launched at The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) on 17 December 2015.
Officiating at the launch of the institute, Ms Michelle Li, Director of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, commended RIDCH for its pioneering efforts in developing researches in digital culture and humanities in Hong Kong.
Following the Launch Ceremony, two plenary sessions on digital culture and humanities took place. First, Professor Jessica Tsui-yan Li of York University gave a speech on “Digital Culture in the Formation of Chinese Canadian identities”. Next, Dr. Jack Hang-tat Leong of University of Toronto Libraries, Canada, also delivered a talk on “Library Curation of Digital Humanities Projects on Chinese Canadian History”. Held together with the RIDCH Conferences, the event attracted over 70 delegates from Australia, Canada, Europe, the UK, the US, Brazil, Japan, Taiwan, China, Macau, and Hong Kong.
