Dean’s Message

It is my pleasure to welcome you to our Website. We appreciate your visit and hope that you will get to know more about us and what we can offer to learners like yourself.

As a trusted provider of full-time further education and part-time programmes, LiPACE is committed to serving the needs of learners from all walks of life. Our students include senior secondary graduates, working professionals, corporate employees, non-profit and public sector clients. Our 19 Higher Diploma programmes take pride in its diversity of subjects covered and for having enrolled students from local, ethnic minorities, other nationalities and mainland China. Since 1992, we have stayed true to our founding mission of serving the broadest constituency of learners and shall continue to work towards becoming your preferred “Lifelong Learning Partner”.

Our programmes have over the years carved out a niche of its own through unique qualities which I am eager to share with you. LiPACE’s Diploma Yi Jin (DYJ) programme offers a wide choice of elective courses that are in tune with developments in the service sector. We care deeply for our DYJ graduates’ inclusion in the new economy and will continue to adapt our elective courses to ensure their participation in jobs, careers and study pathways of the future. The Higher Diploma offerings in LiPACE are equally diverse, ranging from highly on-demand programmes in Early Childhood Education and Health Care to areas at the interface with new technology and specialized human services such as Digital Fashion Creation and Animal Assisted Therapy. On our part-time programmes, we have continued to serve occupational areas requiring staff training and retraining, such as OSH, tree management, property management, elder home supervisory training, etc. We shall keep the same pioneering spirit lit on while developing new professional qualifications that ride on the trends of the creative, digital and experiential economies as well as meeting specialized areas of human service needs. Our new 'Professional Diploma in Arboriculture', 'Professional Certificate in Food Appreciation, Styling and Photography', 'Certificate in Chinese Colour Painting' and 'Traffic Accident Reconstruction Course' represent some of the new programmes and courses offered in 2020.

Launched in 2004 and 2009 respectively, our Capacity Building Mileage Programme (CBMP) and Elder Academy both continue to play a leading role in addressing the learning needs of women and senior citizens in the community. The CBMP has proudly reached its 100,000th enrolment in July 2018 and the Elderly Academy its 10,000th enrolment in September 2019. Through them, we also help to fulfill our University’s community service role. Since 2001, we have offered Lifelong Learning Seminars to our students and the public. This endeavor will continue on under revitalized vigor with new topics to help participants stay informed about developments in the economy, culture, society and technology. In AY 2019/20, we have started a wholly new Science and Technology Seminar Series. In AY 2020/21, we have expanded the lecture series to include Health, Business and Innovations, Inner Nurturing and Mental Wellness, Japanese Language and Culture, and other topics of general interest. Do check our Webpage and FB page regularly for updates and join online to partake of the learning opportunity (for sessions that are open to the public).

I hope you will join us soon in your learning journey and have the chance to experience for yourself on being part of the LiPACE learning community.

At your service,
Dr. Benjamin Chan
