Medium of Instruction: Except for courses on Chinese Language & Modern Chinese Medicinal Nursing, lectures will be conducted in English.

  • The programme is locally accredited and registered as QF Level 4
  • Graduates may apply for direct admission to Year 3 of 5-year nursing degree programme
  • Curriculum designed in accordance with medical, nursing and pharmaceutical practitioners’ recommendations applicable in healthcare settings
  • Taught by local practitioners in nursing and para-medical fields
  • 396-hours clinical placement for building up students’ hands-on experience and competence in performing the roles and duties of health workers

The programme aims to equip students with the theoretical underpinning academic knowledge, practical skills and professional manner required for practice in the healthcare sectors. It also equips health workers who are committed to working in the healthcare sectors. It is designed with strong vocational elements for the students to achieve competence, as well as enhanced soft skills to meet the demand from both the employers and the community. Graduates of the programme are eligible to apply for a number of local and overseas degree programmes in health related areas such as Nursing for top-up degree articulation.

Objectives

Upon completion of the programme, students should be able to

  • Apply a range of generic skills, including language, interpersonal communication, information technology and analytical skills in health care;
  • Apply evidence-based patient care service to meet the needs of a diverse population in the healthcare environment;
  • Formulate and implement management functions to uphold quality healthcare services within clinical and community settings;
  • Design feasible health promotion strategies to promote the general health and well-being of the public;
  • Communicate effectively with different stakeholders in the healthcare setting; and
  • Self-appraise own practices and reflect on the need for independent continuous professional development and lifelong learning.

Entry Requirement

Applicants are normally required to have either one of the following qualifications:  

  • Level 2 in 5 HKDSE subjects including English and Chinese and either one of the following subjects: Chemistry, Biology or related science subject; or

  • Grade E in 1 HKALE A-Level (or an equivalent number of AS) subject(s); and
    (i) 5 passes in HKCEE including English and Chinese; or
    (ii) 3 passes in HKCEE plus level 2 or above in English and Chinese; or
    (iii) Plus a pass in Chemistry, Biology or related science subject in HKCEE/AS/AL.

  • Satisfactory completion of a relevant Diploma or an equivalent programme (at QF level 3); or

  • Satisfactory completion of Yi Jin Diploma with Maths Plus; or

  • Other acceptable equivalent qualifications (including non-local qualifications obtained in or outside HK, or other qualifications / experience deemed to be equivalent); or

  • Mature applicants who are 21 years of age or above with a minimum of 3 years' working experience will also be considered on a case-by-case basis.
