New Building for All OUHK Staff and Students
I am very delighted to share with you a piece of good news that the University has obtained an Occupation Permit for its new building “Jockey Club Institute of Healthcare” (IOH Campus) from Buildings Department on 15 September 2020. Upon completion of internal fitting-out works, the building will be available for use by the end of October 2020.
The new IOH Campus is located at Sheung Shing Street, just opposite to our Main Campus and within 3 minutes walking distance. With a total gross floor area of 18,680 square meters, the 13-storey new building is well designed and equipped with modern learning facilities and spacious student amenities on top of its elegant curtain wall outlook.
Same as our existing campuses, the IOH campus will be used by students of all schools. Students may enjoy many new amenities, ranging from general learning common areas, discussion rooms and mini café to special facilities such as study hubs, fitness room, yoga room, contact sport rooms, VR sport activities room and rehearsal rooms etc. Two places that you cannot miss for leisure are the academic concourse from 4/F to 9/F and the open terrace at 10/F which have a magnificent view overlooking the whole Sheung Shing Street Park, Pui Ching Road and Princess Margaret Road.
The new campus will greatly strengthen our teaching and learning support as among other things, there are 2 auditoriums (with a capacity of 300 and 400 seats) and about 15 classrooms of different sizes. Registry would schedule General Education and other courses at the new campus so that all students would have chances to attend classes and enjoy the facilities. Besides, colleagues may use the deluxe meeting facilities, including Conference Chamber, meeting rooms, and rooms for meeting with students.
Last but not least, the IOH campus provides state-of the-art facilities and equipment to deliver our healthcare programmes (namely Nursing and Physiotherapy). Special facilities being set up comprises Nursing Laboratories, Chinese Medicine Skill Laboratory, Clinical Simulation Laboratories, VR Laboratories, Digital Virtual Dissection Laboratory, Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy Laboratory, Electrophysical Therapy Laboratory, Neurological Physiotherapy Laboratory, Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Laboratory, Sport Physiotherapy and Human Performance Laboratory etc.
The IOH campus would enrich students’ campus experience and serve as a testament that the University is committed to improving its campus facilities to provide an ideal learning environment for students. You are invited to visit and use the new campus upon its commencement of operation in late October. I look forward to seeing you there. Thanks for your attention.
