Dear Colleagues and Students,

Happy New Year!

To protect and safeguard its community, the University, after careful consideration, has decided to implement new campus access control measures based on vaccination and test. The implementation shall take effect on Tuesday 1 March 2022 upon completion of turnstiles installation at the campuses.  If you have not been vaccinated, you are encouraged to get fully vaccinated at least 14 days prior to the implementation date.

Under the new measures, all full-time, temporary and part-time staff as well as full-time and part-time students are required to be fully vaccinated 14 days before entering the campuses.  For those who are unable to receive vaccination due to medical reasons or other legitimate personal reasons (subject to acceptance by the University at its absolute discretion), they are required to undergo a COVID-19 RT-PCR nucleic acid test offered by the Community Testing Centres (CTCs) or private local testing institutions recognized by the Government, and obtain negative results every 7 days before they are allowed to enter the University’s campuses.  Results of self-test kits for COVID-19 are not accepted. 

To facilitate the arrangements, you are required to report your vaccination record or submit your weekly negative test result via the University’s online Vaccination / Testing Registration System (VTRS) on a timely basis.  Those who fail to comply with the new requirements WILL NOT be allowed to enter the campuses.  For further information, please visit the FAQ [link] page on the University website.

The persistence of the COVID-19 pandemic calls for stringent measures to protect the University community so that we can bring teaching and learning back to normal in a safe environment.  Vaccines against COVID-19 are considered to be an important public health tool for containing the pandemic and reducing adverse impacts on public health and the society.  We deeply appreciate your understanding and cooperation in the new arrangements.  You are strongly encouraged to get fully vaccinated as soon as possible to protect yourself, the University’s staff and students as well as the HKSAR community as a whole.
