Strict Enforcement of Using LeaveHomeSafe Mobile Application when Entering Campus 2021-11-29

    Dear students,

Since we implemented the requirement of using “LeaveHomeSafe” or filling in a record form for entering our campus in mid-September, we have noticed that false or incomplete information were provided in quite a number of forms. This would greatly reduce the efficiency and precision of contact tracing when a confirmed case is found. Recently, the Government has announced to implement the requirement of using “LeaveHomeSafe” mobile application (“the app”) in a more extensive and stringent manner.  In this connection, the University has decided that starting from Monday, 6 December 2021, all staff, students, alumni and visitors (except for exempted persons as mentioned below) are required to use the app to scan the venue QR code before they are allowed to enter the campus.

Under the new arrangements, persons who are aged below 12 or aged 65 or above, and those with disabilities that render the use of the app difficult, will be exempted from the requirement of using the app when they enter the campus.  However, they are required to complete a record form to register their names, the first 4 digits or letters of their identification documents, their contact numbers and the date and time of their visits, and present the relevant identification documents for verification at the request of the security guards on-site during registration.  The security guards will verify the contact numbers by making phone calls. Please note that unwillingness to use the app will not be considered as a justification for granting exemption.

As a concerted effort to enhance the epidemic control capacity to protect members of the University and the public, I call upon all of you, if you have not yet done so, to download and use the app [Here] as soon as possible, and appeal for your co-operation with the security guards on-site in respect of the instructions given.

Let’s work together to keep us safe, and protect the University and the community as a whole.

    Best regards,

    Prof. Lui Yu Hon
