Officiating at the ceremony, President of the OUHK Prof. Yuk-Shan Wong extended a warm welcome to all freshmen on behalf of the University for embarking on a new chapter at the OUHK. He shared his views with the new students on how to start the university life. In face of the changes and challenges caused by the threat of the pandemic, he encouraged them to go through this unprecedented crisis with optimism, and treated it as a valuable learning opportunity to broaden their perspective. Prof. Wong said that all the Schools have adjusted the teaching and learning strategy, and the University will also make its best efforts to provide necessary support and assistance to all students.
Apart from focusing on their studies, Prof. Wong also encouraged new students to seize every learning opportunity in the four-year university life, as well as to sharpen their language and communication skills. "I hope you will proactively take part in a wide range of visits, exchanges and internship opportunities provided by the University, so as to broaden your horizons, explore the cultures and perspectives of different places around the world, develop an inclusive mindset, learn to think independently and how to make wise decisions," he said.
