The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) will launch the Bachelor of Science with Honours in Physiotherapy in 2020-2021 academic year to meet the rising demand for healthcare manpower. To encourage outstanding students to enroll in the programme, OUHK announces that an Entrance Scholarship of HK$60,000 will be granted to eligible first-year students.
The Entrance Scholarship of HK$60,000 will be awarded to all first-year students admitted to the Physiotherapy Programme through JUPAS and attained a score of 22 or above in the best five subjects, including Chinese, English, Mathematics and Liberal Studies, in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination this year. Together with the non-means-tested annual subsidy up to HK$32,100 under the Non-means-tested Subsidy Scheme for Self-financing Undergraduate Studies (NMTSS) of the Government, the actual tuition fee for the first year will be reduced to HK$67,900, representing a significant drop of nearly 60% compared with the original fee. It will help ease the financial burden of the students admitted to the programme.
Students taking the Physiotherapy Programme will also be able to enjoy the state-of-the-art facilities in a new campus–the OUHK Jockey Club Institute of Healthcare (IOH) – which is expected to be in use in the last quarter this year. The 13-storey IOH will be home to a suite of healthcare related programmes and will provide students with an ideal setting for learning and exchange. Facilities and equipment housed in the IOH and dedicated to the Physiotherapy programme include Sports Physiotherapy and Biomechanics Laboratory, Neurological Physiotherapy Laboratory, Electrophysical Therapy and Assistive Technology Laboratory, Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Laboratory and Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy and Simulation Laboratory.
