OUHK aims to enrich students' learning experience and inject positivity in their lives through the two-week Summer Carnival.
Over a hundred sessions of activities and workshops under the theme of sports, art & craft, personal growth and career development will be organized during the carnival. OUHK students are thrilled to return to the university to enjoy the fun-filled campus life.
With the recent sign of mitigation of COVID-19 pandemic, The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) organizes a Summer Carnival with more than a hundred sessions of workshops and activities to welcome students back to the university and engage them in a diverse and fun-filled campus life to explore personal interests and enhance their all-round development.
The past few months have seen a big challenge to everyone around the world. The OUHK management understands that students may encounter anxiety from the threat, pressure of adjusting to online study and boredom of staying home amid the coronavirus pandemic. The University’s Student Affairs Office (SAO) has therefore organized the Summer Carnival to welcome students back to campus again and inject positivity in their lives.
The Summer Carnival is held from 25 May to 5 June for all full-time students, during which over a hundred sessions of activities and workshops under the theme of sports, art & craft, personal growth and career development will be arranged. The two weeks will be packed with a range of programmes including yoga, neon signs DIY, art jam, interview workshops, etc. In addition, most of the activities are eligible programmes for students to apply the HK$1,000 one-off subsidy in the ‘Special Student Enhancement Scheme’ (SSES) launched by the OUHK earlier.
President of the OUHK Prof. Yuk-Shan Wong is thrilled to see the students back to the University and their active participation in the carnival. He believed that it is a good opportunity for students, teachers and the university to interact after a long time of not meeting each other. 'OUHK will continue to make our best efforts to work hand-in-hand with students to enrich their learning experience which can inspire them to grow and develop personally, cultivate a stronger sense of belonging and enable them to realize their full potential.'
Nearly all the programmes of Summer Carnival have been fully registered. In view of the overwhelming response, the OUHK is considering to launch the second round of Summer Carnival in June to engage more students.
To ensure safe social distance, each session of activity and workshop will be conducted in a way to ensure there is at least 1.5 metres between each participant. Meanwhile, a series of precautionary measures will be implemented to ensure that all activities are held safely. For more details of summer carnival, please visit SAO website: https://bit.ly/3d1s2p7
