Since its inception in 1989, The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) has been committed to promoting lifelong learning and serving the community through offering quality, professional and flexible education. The University has also been broadcasting educational television programmes on public TV channels for nearly three decades, and one of its longstanding partners is the Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB). Recently the two parties have renewed their collaboration on educational programmes to be broadcast on TVB's Pearl channel every Sunday morning from 9am to 1pm. Starting from September 2018, the educational TV programme "Open for Learning" will be renamed as "Knowledge for All" to emphasize the diversity of the topics that could be enjoyed by all.

An agreement signing ceremony cum press conference for the new "Knowledge for All" TV programme was held today on the OUHK's Jockey Club Campus. Officiating at the ceremony were the President of the OUHK Prof. Yuk-Shan Wong and the Executive Director and General Manager of TVB Mr Cheong Shin-keong. Other guests included Vice President (Academic) of the OUHK Prof. Reggie Kwan Ching-ping, Vice President (Administration & Development) of the OUHK Prof. Tong Chong-sze, Associate Vice President (Academic Support & External Links) of the OUHK Prof. Ip Yiu-keung, Director of Education Technology & Publishing of the OUHK Dr Eva Tsang Yuen-mei, Director of Public Affairs of the OUHK Ms Florence Chan Yuk-sau, Advertising Sales Director (Pearl & TVB News Channel) of the Marketing & Sales Division of TVB Mr Benny Chung, the 2nd Runner-Up of Miss Hong Kong 2017 Ms Emily Wong, Big Big Channel’s Miss Congeniality Boanne Cheung, TVB artistes Ms Lisa Ch’ng and Mr William Chak, and the emcee of the ceremony Mr Jeoffrey Wong.

Addressing the ceremony, Prof. Yuk-Shan Wong said, "Knowledge is equally valuable to everyone. No one should be deprived of the opportunities for education due to his or her age or socio-economic background. Since the establishment of the OUHK in 1989, the university has been offering open and flexible education to the community, from young secondary school graduates to working adults who are keen to acquire knowledge for a brighter and better future. I believe that the brand new ‘Knowledge for All’ programme will enable citizens in Hong Kong to enjoy a convenient and innovative learning experience and help further promote the culture of lifelong education among all."

Mr Cheong Shin Keong said in his speech, "Special thanks to The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) for their long-standing support and trust in both TVB and Pearl. We will continue to work closely with the OUHK to bring high quality educational programmes to the people of Hong Kong. We will broadcast our programmes on TVB Pearl every week for anyone to watch and acquire new information, and keep our audience updated on the current state of affairs. In the past, people was able to obtain a university degree in their spare time through the education courses offered by OUHK. Today, people can obtain better qualifications even through the University’s full-time programmes and develop their career and other interests, thanks to the effort that the OUHK has put into higher education over the years."

During the ceremony, the TVB artistes also shared their personal learning experiences and introduced new highlights of the "Knowledge for All" programme.

The brand new four-hour TV programme will cover a wide spectrum of topics such as culture and literature, professional business management, language, healthcare, as well as science and technology.
