The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) announced today (26 July) the appointment of Prof. Tong Chong-Sze as Vice President (Administration & Development) with effect from 18 September 2017.

Currently as Secretary General of Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA), Prof. Tong is a seasoned leader with substantial academic and administration experience. After obtaining his B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Cambridge, Prof. Tong joined the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) in 1992. He had held various academic positions and served as Associate Dean of Science prior to taking up the position of Academic Registrar in the university. Prof. Tong was also awarded the inaugural President's Award for Outstanding Performance in Teaching in 2001, and the President's Award for Outstanding Performance in Service in 2006. His research area was in image and signal processing, and he had published articles in top tier journals in the field.

As Secretary General at HKEAA since 2011, Prof. Tong has driven a key milestone of the education reform in Hong Kong by successfully implementing the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE), which gained international recognition for its qualification from over 270 institutions around the world.

Prof. Tong is a Chartered Scientist, a Chartered Mathematician, a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Application in the UK, and a former Council Member of the Society of Hong Kong Scholars.

The management team of the OUHK welcomes the appointment of Prof. Tong Chong-Sze, and is confident that the University will benefit from Prof. Tong's knowledge and experience to scale to the next level of excellence.
