    A launching ceremony for the new series of “Open for Learning” programme was held on 14 October at OUHK’s campus, officiated by OUHK President Prof. Yuk-Shan WONG (second from the left) and TVB Assistant General Manager Mr. Felix TO (second from the right).

    Hong Kong, October 14, 2015 – A new series of "Open for Learning"(進修新天地), an educational TV programme by The Open University of Hong Kong, has started airing on TVB Pearl from 9am to 1 pm every Sunday morning since the beginning of October. A joint effort between the OUHK and Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) for many years, the programme has been continuously brought to the public, enlightening not only students, but everyone in Hong Kong.

    A launching ceremony for the new series of "Open for Learning" was held today (October 14) at OUHK's Ho Man Tin campus, officiated by OUHK President Prof. Yuk-Shan WONG and TVB Assistant General Manager Mr. Felix TO.

    Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Yuk-Shan WONG noted that OUHK has been producing and broadcasting weekly education programmes on free public TV channels non-stop for 26 years.

    'We are the only university in Hong Kong doing that in furtherance of our mission of Education for All. Through this collaboration with TVB Pearl, our lectures and talks could be seen by all in Hong Kong. This time, we are particularly excited to kick-start the Great Speakers Series which features public lectures by various prominent speakers. These talks will be broadcast on TVB Pearl, literally turning all of Hong Kong into our lecture hall.'

    During the ceremony, TVB artists also shared their experience as students and introduced new highlights of "Open for Learning". From January 2016 onwards, the Great Speakers Series will be broadcast as part of the programme. Registration to the live lectures is available at www.ouhk.edu.hk/GreatSpeakers.

    The new series of "Open for Learning" features a wide spectrum of topics including corporate governance, marketing & management, family & child development, health care, social science, science & technology, computing & IT, education, language & literature as well as history and culture.


    Other guests attending the launch are:
    - OUHK Vice President (Administration and Development) Prof. LEE Wing On,
    - Associate Vice President (Academic Support & External Links) Prof. IP Yiu Keung,
    - Director of Public Affairs Mr CK YEUNG,
    - Acting Director of Educational Technology and Publishing Unit Dr Eva TSANG Yuen Mei;

    - TVB Deputy Controller of Marketing & Sales Division Mr. TSO Shiu To,
    - Head of Sales (Pearl) of Marketing & Sales Division Ms. Amy CHAN, and
    - Assistant Controller of Programme Division Ms. Nancy LAI.
    - The propitious occasion was also attended by a stellar cast of TVB artistes including Miss Hong Kong - 2015 winner Louisa Mak, second runner-up Karmen Kwok, Mr. William Chak, Mr. Kay Ho, and emceed by Mr. Miguel Choi.


    About the OUHK :

    Established by the Government in 1989, The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) provides high quality and flexible university education and professional training to secondary school graduates and working adults. The University currently offers about 240 programmes of different academic levels to more than 12,000 distance learning students and 8,000 full-time students.

    OUHK comprises four Schools, i.e. School of Arts and Social Sciences, Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration, School of Education and Languages, and School of Science and Technology. The Li Ka Shing Institute of Professional and Continuing Education offers overseas degree programmes and short courses. The University originally has two buildings on the campus of Ho Man Tin, with another recently-opened Jubilee College, and two learning centres at various convenient locations, namely OUHK-CITA Learning Centre (OCLC) and OUHK Kwai Hing Learning Centre (KHLC).
