      OUHK to confer Honorary University Fellowships
    on four distinguished leaders

    The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) will award Honorary University Fellowships to four distinguished leaders on 6 November 2015 in recognition of their outstanding achievements in their respective fields and exceptional contributions to the University and society.

    The fellowship recipients are: Ms Virginia Choi Wai-kam, Mr Peter Lee Kwok-wah, Prof. Philip Yeung Kwok-wing and Mr Samuel Yung Wing-ki. The conferment ceremony will be held at the Serena Yang Lecture Theatre at the OUHK Ho Man Tin Campus.

    Brief profiles of the four recipients are as follows:

    Ms Virginia Choi Wai-kam, JP
    Ms Virginia Choi Wai-kam, JP

    Ms Virginia Choi Wai-kam, a veteran management consultant, is the Managing Consultant and Country Manager of Tamty McGill Consultants International Limited, which provides professional consultancy services to a wide spectrum of clients. Ms Choi has been very supportive in promoting the profession of human capital management. She has over thirty years of experience in training, consultancy and human capital development for different sectors. Ms Choi has also made notable contributions to the education sector. Her long and meritorious service to the OUHK has helped the University to attain academic and administrative excellence. She was a Council member of the OUHK and has served on a number of committees of the University in different capacity. She was the Chairman of the Human Resources Committee, and a member of the Audit Committee as well as the Executive Committee.

    Mr Peter Lee Kwok-wah

    Mr Peter Lee Kwok-wah

    Mr Peter Lee Kwok-wah is the Founder of the Crowning-United Group, a conglomerate with global business network and a wide spectrum of businesses, from imaging products and automations, logistics and distribution services to industrial digitalization technology. As a visionary entrepreneur, Mr Lee is widely respected for his long and distinguished community and charity service, in particular his support to higher education both in Mainland China and Hong Kong. He has also served on various committees under Hong Kong Hospital Authority, making exemplary efforts in assuring high standard of governance and medical services for the benefits of patients. His contributions to the OUHK are significant. As a member of the Sponsorship and Development Fund Committee and the Steering Committee of the 25th Anniversary of OUHK, Mr Lee has tendered valuable advice and support to facilitate the University’s development.

    Prof. Philip Yeung Kwok-wing
    Prof. Philip Yeung Kwok-wing

    Prof. Philip Yeung Kwok-wing is the Executive Director of Clothing Industry Training Authority (CITA). Prof. Yeung has made notable contributions in the textile and clothing sector, particularly in introducing various international accreditations for the professional development of the industry. Prof. Yeung has remarkable contributions to the OUHK in academic collaborations. With his facilitation, in 2008, a cooperation agreement was signed between CITA and the OUHK to jointly offer a two-year full-time top-up programme in fashion business, providing an academic progression pathway for CITA diploma graduates in Fashion Business and Fashion Design & Development to further their study at the OUHK for an undergraduate degree.

    Mr Samuel Yung Wing-ki, SBS, MH, JP

     
    Mr Samuel Yung Wing-ki, SBS, MH, JP

    Mr Samuel Yung Wing-ki is the Executive District Director of American International Limited (AIA). With over thirty years of experience in the finance and insurance industry, Mr Yung has distinguished contributions for the advancement of the profession. He has rich experience in public and community services, and is highly respected in the business field, particularly in the insurance sector. Mr Yung also shares his expertise and insights for the benefits of higher education in Hong Kong. He was a Council member of the OUHK and contributed to the University notably in assuring high standard in governance and achieving academic excellence. His other roles include serving as a member on OUHK’s Finance Committee and Project Management Committee, where he shared his valuable advice and experience in various aspects.

    Established by the Government in 1989, The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) provides high quality and flexible university education and professional training to secondary school graduates and working adults. The University currently offers about 240 programmes of different academic levels to more than 12,000 distance learning students and 8,000 full-time students.

    OUHK comprises four Schools, i.e. School of Arts and Social Sciences, Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration, School of Education and Languages, and School of Science and Technology. The Li Ka Shing Institute of Professional and Continuing Education offers overseas degree programmes and short courses. The University originally has two buildings on the campus of Ho Man Tin, with another recently-opened Jubilee College, and two learning centres at various convenient locations, namely OUHK-CITA Learning Centre (OCLC) and OUHK Kwai Hing Learning Centre (KHLC).
