If you are planning to upgrade yourself by getting a Masters Degree or Postgraduate Degree, The Open University of Hong Kong has lots of choices for you. The OUHK offers a variety of face-to-face postgraduate programmes in full-time and part-time modes leading to the awards of Masters Degree, Postgraduate Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate.
There are different schools for you to choose, including School of Arts and Social Sciences, Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration, School of Science and Technology, School of Education and Languages. Face-to-face postgraduate degree or postgraduate diploma normally ranges from one year to two years, though some may allow a maximum study period of six years. Students can usually complete a full-time face-to-face masters degree programme in one year.
The OUHK adopts a credit system. Each qualification stipulates a specific credit requirement and each course carries a credit value. As you pass courses prescribed under a qualification, you accumulate the credits toward that qualification. Postgraduate Diploma required total 40-50 credits and Masters Degree required total 60 credits. Also, you may be able to get credit for your previous studies. Credit transfer, known as 'advanced standing' at the OUHK, is available for students who have completed tertiary-level studies elsewhere. Advanced standing awards may considerably shorten the time you need to complete your OUHK study programme. The maximum advanced standing possible of Masters Degree is 30 credits and Postgraduate Diploma is 20 credits.
