  • Regulations for the Associate of Social Sciences in Liberal Studies

    Programme Information for New Students
      To facilitate your registration, check the course information by inputting the course code   
    These regulations are made under paragraphs 1 to 4 of the Regulations for the Award of Sub-degree Qualifications (Sub-degrees).

    In these regulations definitions shall apply as in the Regulations for the Award of Sub-degree Qualifications and in the Interpretation Section of the Academic Rules and Regulations.

    Associate of Social Sciences in Liberal Studies (ASSCLS) (see Note 9)
    1. To be eligible for the award of the Associate of Social Sciences in Liberal Studies, a student shall:
      a) comply with the Regulations for Admission, Registration and Maintenance of Status; and
      b) comply with the Regulations for the Award of Sub-degree Qualifications (Sub-degrees); and
      c) obtain at least 80 credits in courses prescribed by the regulations.
         
    2. For the Associate of Social Sciences in Liberal Studies, the University has prescribed that a student must:
      a) successfully complete 20 credits from the courses labelled SA in Table 1; and
      b) successfully complete 60 credits from either of the following options:
        Option 1

    i) 50 credits from courses labelled SB in Table 1; and

    ii) 10 credits from courses labelled SC in Table 1.

    OR

    Option 2

    i) 40 credits from courses labelled SB in Table 1; and

    ii) 20 credits from courses labelled SC or C in Table 1.

    1. Courses form excluded combinations with other courses. Only one of the courses of the excluded combinations can count towards an OUHK award. Students should refer to the attached list for details.
       
    2. ENGL A100 was replaced by ENGL A101. If students have successfully completed ENGL A100, they are deemed to have satisfied the requirements for ENGL A101.
       
    3. Courses no longer available.
       
    4. If students have successfully completed ENVR S206, they are deemed to have satisfied the requirements for ENVR S216.
       
    5. If students have successfully completed PSYC A317, they are deemed to have satisfied the requirements for PSYC A307.
       
    6. SCI S121 was replaced by SCI S123 and SCI S124. If students have successfully completed SCI S121, they are deemed to have satisfied the requirements for SCI S123 and SCI S124.
       
    7. CHST A202C has been replaced by CHIN A202C. Students who have successfully completed CHST A202C will be deemed to have satisfied the requirements of CHIN A202C.
       
    8. HIST A213C has been replaced by CHIN A213C. Students who have successfully completed HIST A213C will be deemed to have satisfied the requirements of CHIN A213C.
       
    9. The programme of Associate of Social Sciences in Liberal Studies has been phased out with effect from April 2015 semester. The last conferment of the programme will be December 2019.
