    Quantitative Methods for Decision Making

    You are advised to have already studied BUS B171.

    This course aims to provide learners with the analytical skills required to apply appropriate quantitative methods in a business context. It introduces the basic skills of conducting regression analysis and business forecasting. It also covers the methodology of performing linear programming, decision analysis as well as project management techniques in making business decisions.

    The course covers the following topics:

    • Analysis of variance and linear regression

    • Time series analysis and forecasting

    • Linear programming

    • Decision analysis

    • Project management

    Learning support
    There will be five three-hour tutorials, and two three-hour surgeries. Students will attend the tutorial group assigned to them. They might also attend the scheduled surgeries to seek individual help from the tutor on duty.

    There are two assignments and one examination. Students must use word processing software (such as Microsoft Word) to prepare the assignments and submit the assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).

    Students will need access to a personal computer with an Internet connection.

    Students will need access to Microsoft Excel for Windows.
