    This course is a course that explores the legal discourse in the bilingual linguistic context of Hong Kong. It involves the drafting of bilingual texts for use in transactions between mainland China and Hong Kong.

    Upon completion of the course, students should be able to:

    • Implement the principles of construction, process and techniques of bilingual drafting;

    • Identify and appraise the contents and techniques of the documents/letters commonly used in the legal sector;

    • Translate legal texts effectively, using the skills and techniques covered in the course.

    Aims
    This course aims to familiarize students with the drafting of bilingual laws and to develop their skills in drafting bilingual legal documents for the public/private sectors.

    Contents*

    • Bilingual drafting.

    • Principles of construction, process and techniques of drafting bilingual legal documents.

    * The contents of this course will depend upon the expertise of the lecturer(s).

    Assessment
    Students are required to submit assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).
