    Master of Science in Quantitative Analysis and Computational Mathematics

    Face-to-face postgraduate programme (full-time or part-time)

    Programme description


    This programme is designed for those learners who wish to enhance their quantitative skills, and who are interested in embarking on a career in the fields of engineering, managerial science, business analysis, computing technology, financial services, education or research. The programme will provide rigorous training in quantitative analysis for decision making, as well as in computational methods for simulation and prediction.

    Full-time and part-time students can normally complete the programme in 1 year to 2 years.

    Programme-specific entry requirements:
    (a) a Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent, in a related discipline from a recognized institution; or
    (b) a Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent, in any academic discipline from a recognized institution plus at least two years’ working experience in relevant fields; or
    (c) a Postgraduate Certificate in Quantitative Analysis awarded by OUHK, or equivalent; or
    (d) a Postgraduate Certificate in Computational Mathematics awarded by OUHK, or equivalent.


    The following new programme structure will be applied to current students who enrolled in/after September 2018 intake:

    (a) Obtain 40 credits from the core courses:
      MATH S811F Computer Algebra and Simulations (10)
      MATH S812F Computational Methods for Risk Analysis and Decision Making (10)
      STAT S801F Quantitative Methods for Decision Analysis (10)
      STAT S802F Multivariate and Time Series Analysis (10)
         
    (b) Obtain 20 credits from the following course:
      STAT S822F Research Project in Quantitative Analysis and Management Science (20)

     

    The following revised programme structure will be applied to students who enroll before September 2018 intake:

    (a) Obtain 40 credits from the following core courses:
      MATH S811F Computer Algebra and Simulations (10)
      MATH S812F Computational Methods for Risk Analysis and Decision Making (10)
      STAT S801F Quantitative Methods for Decision Analysis (10)
      STAT S802F Multivariate and Time Series Analysis (10)
         
    (b) Obtain 20 credits from either
      (i) STAT S822F Research Project in Quantitative Analysis and Management Science (20)
        or
      (ii) STAT S821F Quantitative and Computational Project (10) with 10 credits of the following elective courses:
      COMP S801^ Object Oriented Programming and Internet Application Development (10)
      COMP S888^ Multimedia Technology (10)
      ENGG S837F Systems Engineering (10)
      ENGG S838F Innovation & Technology Management (10)
      FIN B850^ Investment and Portfolio Management (10)
      FIN B851^ Financial Planning and Risk Management (10)
      ENVR S835^ Environmental Control, Monitoring and Modeling (10)
