    New Council members

      Mr Paul Chong founded the Southa Group, an engineering enterprise, where he is currently a director. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Hong Kong. Actively engaged in public service, he is currently a member of the Construction Industry Council, Energy Advisory Committee, and Vocational Training Council’s Engineering Discipline Advisory Board and Building and Civil Engineering Training Board. He is also Chairman of the Hong Kong Federation of Electrical and Mechanical Contractors and a Governor of the Canadian International School of Hong Kong.

      Prof. Helen Meng is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Co-Director of the CUHK MoE-Microsoft Key Laboratory of Human-Centric Computing and Interface Technologies. She received her Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate Degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Over the years, she has received several teaching and research awards from the CUHK and the Ministry of Education of China. Her public services include membership in the Research Grants Council under the University Grants Committee.

      Dr Eden Woon is Vice-President for Institutional Advancement at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). He obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Iowa, and his Master of Arts, Master of Science and Doctorate Degrees, all in Mathematics, from the University of Washington in Seattle. Before joining HKUST, he held a number of senior management positions, including ones with Li & Fung Group’s China Corporate Office, Starbucks Coffee Company in China and the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce. He also taught mathematics in the US Air Force.

      Dr Anna Yip is Managing Director of Corporate Planning and International Strategy at United Overseas Bank (UOB). She graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and received a Master’s Degree and her PhD in Management Studies from the University of Oxford. Before joining UOB, she taught at the London School of Economics and Political Science and at Birkbeck, University of London, and later was a Partner with McKinsey & Company. Over her 12-year tenure with McKinsey, she advised banks, non-bank financial institutions and funds on strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and organizational issues.

    Council changes

    Prof. Paul Kwok Chi-kong, Director of the College of Full-time Studies and Secretary to the Council and Management Board, became a Senate representative in the Council in June 2012 and will serve for two years, replacing Prof. Alan Au Kai-ming.
