LiPACE's first Professional Programmes Graduation Ceremony in Macau

The Professional Programmes Graduation Ceremony of LiPACE was held in Macau for the first time. Officiated by Mr Wong Chi-iong, officer-in-charge of Macau’s Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, the ceremony took place on 3 November 2012 in the Exhibition Centre of the Macao Science Centre. In response to the learning needs of Macau residents, LiPACE and the Macau Business Management Educational Centre began collaborating in 2010, and since then have launched a number of collaborative professional programmes. About 200 people have already graduated, and the establishment of an alumni association is underway.

    Student Achievements

Fashion design student wins regional championship in international competition

Year 3 student of the Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Fashion programme Cher Chan won first prize in the Society of Dyers and Colourists International Design Competition (Hong Kong region). Inspired by the clothes of Chinese ethnic minorities and natural resources, Cher brought together unique colours and elements of nature in her scarf design, which gave her the chance to contend with 11 other finalists from around the world.

Commercial photography graduate holds his solo exhibition

Mr Tam Cheung-hang, a graduate of the Professional Diploma in Commercial Photography programme, held a solo photography exhibition at the Metro Art Gallery in the Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre in mid-December 2012. Under the theme of ‘Colours of the Night,’ he broke with traditional aesthetics and used light, shadow and different angles to explore various effects of night photography.

    Outstanding students receive scholarships

Twenty-one LiPACE students received Applied Learning Scholarships jointly offered by the Education Bureau and Law’s Charitable Foundation, with 12 of them also being awarded Certificates of Merit. In addition, 13 students who completed the last session of Project Yi Jin were presented Sir Robert Black Trust Fund Scholarships for the year 2011/2012. The Institute takes pride in the achievements of these students.

    LiPACE new programmes

Certificate/Diploma in General English — The programmes adopt interactive approaches and use real-life examples to enhance students’ ability to read, write, listen to and speak English. They are suitable for those who would like to sit for examinations such as the TOEIC, IELTS, City & Guilds IESOL and ISESOL.

Professional Diploma in Strategic Service Management — Offered in collaboration with the Quality Tourism Services Association, the programme can enhance students’ knowledge of strategic management, models and techniques in the service industry, helping them to make effective decisions at a senior management level.
