    Mathematics students win second prize in Mathematical Contest in Modeling
    Computing students win prize in the IBM Mainframe Programming Contest
    HKAUW Undergraduate Scholarship

    Mathematics students win second prize in Mathematical Contest in Modeling

    Students Lai Ying-ho, Lau King-chi and Chong Ka-fung from the distance learning programmes of Statistics and Mathematical Studies, participated in the Contemporary Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling held on 7–10 September 2012. The team, led by Associate Professor Dr Wong Sze-mui and Lecturer Dr Carlin Chu, won a second prize among the 17,741 teams from universities in Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, the United States and mainland China taking part. It was also the highest award in the Hong Kong and Macau Division.


    Computing students win prize in the IBM Mainframe Programming Contest

    Postgraduate computing students from the School of Science and Technology Kwong Kan-lam, Yeung Yan-ting and Cheung Ka-yau competed in the IBM Mainframe Programming Contest held in Beijing and finished third. Led by Lecturer Dr Carlin Chu, the team designed a business system that facilitates bidding for advertising slots with smartphones. The project was partly sponsored by the CASH Education Fund.


    HKAUW Undergraduate Scholarship

    Full-time Nursing Year 3 student Au Yeung Man-ting was awarded the Annual HKAUW Undergraduate Scholarship 2011–12 by the Hong Kong Association of University Women (HKAUW) in recognition of her outstanding academic performance and community service. The award presentation ceremony was held on 15 December 2012.
