    Tasting chocolate, tasting love

The Royal Chocolate Tasting Workshop, held by the Alumni Affairs Office of the Public Affairs Unit on the Chinese equivalent of Valentine’s Day on 17 February, created a romantic and memorable experience for its participants.

The workshop was sponsored by Goossens Chocolatier. Shopowner Mr Michael Chan started off the event by introducing the classification of cocoa beans and explaining how the beans are turned into raw chocolates. Guided by Mr Chan, participants experienced the rich aroma of 13 kinds of raw chocolates and chocolate confectionaries from different countries, and learnt to explore the different flavours, the levels of sweetness and the textures. The workshop was very lively, with the participants asking endless questions.

The event was organized to raise funds for the Alumni Scholarship and Bursary Fund. It was well received by alumni, with many pledging to become regular donors of the fund for the next three years. More than $80,000 in donations was received, and the amount will be matched 100% by the ‘Mr Vincent Woo Matching Donation Fund’ for disbursement to outstanding or financially needy students.

    MBA Association casserole dinner

MBA Association members enjoyed a fun night at a casserole dinner on 18 February, with pleasurable chats and ardent dialogues on future planning.

    Putonghua Association (Alumni) spring gathering

The Putonghua Association (Alumni) invited its Honorary Advisor Professor Tian Xiaolin, Art Advisor Ms Tam Cheng-zhu and Advisor of China Affairs Dr Andy Fung Shui-lung to a tea reception on 26 February to discuss the future development of the Association with members.
