    Council changes

    New Council member Prof. Chan Chi-hou is Chair Professor of Electronic Engineering of City University of Hong Kong (CityU). Prof. Chan received his BS and MS in Electrical Engineering from the Ohio State University and received his PhD from the University of Illinois. From 1987 to 1996 he taught and conducted research at the University of Illinois and the University of Washington, Seattle. Two years after he returned to Hong Kong to teach at CityU in 1996, he was promoted to the position of Chair Professor. His research interests focus on computational electromagnetics and he has received a number of awards during his research career, including the US National Science Foundation Presidential Young Investigator Award in 1991. He has also received many outstanding teaching awards from the Electronic Engineering Department at CityU.

    Prof. Philip Yeung, Executive Director of the Clothing Industry Training Authority, was reappointed a Council member. His term began in October this year and will end on 30 September 2012.

    Prof. Rick Wong, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Professor of Chemistry at Hong Kong Baptist University, retired from his position as Council member from October 1.

    Council induction session

    A Council induction session was held on September 29 to familiarize new members with the OUHK. New Council members who attended were Prof. Chan Chi-hou, Chair Professor of Electronic Engineering, City University of Hong Kong; Mr Eddy Lee Wai-man, Chairman, Lee Kum Kee Co Ltd; Mrs Joanna Li, Solicitor, King & Company; and Mr Leung Hin-ming, President of the Students' Union. President Prof. John C Y Leong, Vice President (Academic) Prof. Danny Wong, Vice President (Technology and Development) Prof. Leung Chun-ming and the heads of schools and departments also attended the event.
