Elder Academy receives Age-Friendly Star Award two years in a row

For the second consecutive year, the OUHK’s Elder Academy won an Age-Friendly Star Award from the Hong Kong Council of Social Service for its outstanding achievements in enhancing the quality of life and promoting community participation of the elderly. The Academy was also recognized for achieving two of the eight essential features of age-friendly cities, namely ‘social participation’ and ‘respect and social inclusion’, as an acknowledgement of its efforts in offering fee sponsorships, setting up a bursary system and launching the Active Elderly Learning Programme. The award presentation was held on the Piazza of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on 18 November 2011. LiPACE’s Senior Programme Manager Ms Candy Wong represented the Institute to receive the awards.

    New business programmes

Professional Diploma in Personal Financial Planning — The programme, on offer for more than ten years, has now been restructured to tie in with the revamping of the CFPCM structure by introducing AFPTM certification. The restructured programme will consist of five modules, which will be completed in three stages.

Professional Diploma in Property Management — The programme, jointly offered by LiPACE and the Greater China Institute of Property Management, combines lectures and workshops conducted by professionals, as well as visits to non-local properties and facilities.

Professional Course in Mediation — The course is jointly offered by LiPACE and the Hong Kong Mediation Centre (HKMC). Upon completion of the course, students are eligible to enrol in an advanced workshop to be conducted by the HKMC. They can then become registered mediators of the HKMC by passing the required assessment.
