    New Academic Staff

    Mr Simon Cheung King-chau, Lecturer in Statistics, obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Hong Kong and his Master of Statistics from Australian National University. He has worked at the City University of Hong Kong, and has over 15 years' experience in the manufacturing business. He is presently studying for a Doctoral Degree at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research interests include random networks, time series and Monte Carlo Markov Chain (MCMC) modelling.

    Ms Claudia Chan Kor-yee, Lecturer in Nursing, graduated from the University of Hong Kong and obtained her Master of Science (Nursing) from Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Prior to joining the OUHK, she worked for years in nursing education at other tertiary institutions. She has also worked in public and private hospitals, and has extensive experience in medical nursing. Her research areas include nursing education, health promotion and primary healthcare.

    Ms Fanny Tang Wai-fan, Lecturer in Testing and Certification, obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Applied Physics from the City University of Hong Kong and her Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering Management from the University of Hong Kong. Prior to joining the OUHK, she was a consultant at the Hong Kong Productivity Council and has extensive experience in reliability testing, failure analysis and factory auditing. Her research areas include reliability engineering and low carbon manufacturing.

    President serves as judge for Top Ten Regeneration Warriors Competition

    judge President Prof. John C Y Leong was once again invited to serve as a chief judge for the Top Ten Regeneration Warriors Competition. The activity was organized by the Regeneration Society in partnership with the Hang Seng Bank to promote positive life values by highlighting the stories of ten 'regeneration warriors' who have overcome chronic illnesses to live rewarding lives. At the ceremony held on 31 August, Prof. Leong presented prizes to the awardees and shared his feelings and appreciation from his experience serving as a judge over the years.

    Council induction session

    Eye-opening A Council induction session was held on 30 October to familiarize new members with the OUHK. Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Financial Officer of Ocean Park Corporation Mr Matthias Li and President of the Students' Union Mr Delison Chan attended the session and were warmly received by President Prof. John C Y Leong, the Vice-Presidents and other senior staff members.

    Council changes

    Mr Raymond Chan Wai-kau from the Administration and Accommodation Unit has been re-elected to the OUHK Council as the representative of full-time staff. He will serve a two-year term.
