    Eye-opening experience for nursing faculty and students in the Lion City

    Eye-opening Supported by the Hong Kong Chiu Chow Chamber of Commerce Ltd - Winnie Ko Student Exchange Fund, 14 Year 2 Nursing students from the Bachelor of Nursing programme and two academic staff set off to Singapore for a student exchange programme on 7-9 May. They explored the health care services of the Lion City through their visits to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Ang Mo Kio–Thye Hua Kwan Hospital, Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Singapore General Hospital Museum.


    A taste of Yunnan culture during business study tour

    study tour Three students participated in a China business and economics study tour organized by Yunnan University of Finance and Economics on 6-19 July. As part of their studies in Yunnan Province -- home to beautiful landscapes and ethnic diversity -- the students attended lectures and went on trips exploring contemporary China from political, economic, social and cultural aspects, with a particular focus on the local ethnic characteristics of southwest China.


    Students spend summer on anti-graft

    As ICAC Ambassadors, our students Chu Kin-wai, Leung Ho-yan, Leung Man-wah and Siu Pui-man were selected to join the i-League Exchange Programme held in Beijing on 18-21 June. Together with 27 other ambassadors from local universities, they learned about the latest anti-corruption initiatives in the mainland. In addition to visiting Beijing Municipal People's Procuratorate and the Ministry of Supervision, they exchanged ideas with academics and students of Peking University and Tsinghua University. Leung Ho-yan and Leung Man-wah also worked as summer interns in the Regional Office and Youth and Moral Education Office of the ICAC respectively.


    Experiencing military life during the summer

    Eight OUHK students were among the 150 students selected from local universities to spend 15 days in San Wai Barracks, Fanling to participate in the challenging 3rd Military Life Experience Camp for Hong Kong College Students. Beginning on 3 August, the students went through military training including patrolling and shooting, visited military facilities and attended lectures on national defence. The camp was expected to enhance participants' knowledge of national defence and military affairs and to foster their perseverance, self-discipline and spirit of unity.


    Student selected to join cultural exchange programme

    exchange Poon Man-cheuk, a student from the School of Arts and Social Sciences, was among the 50 representatives from local tertiary institutions selected to join the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Cultural Exchange Programme held on 22 July-1 August. Co-organized by the Home Affairs Bureau, the Department of Culture of Guangdong Province and Tertiary Education Services Office of Macao SAR, the programme offered youth participants with talents in the arts, sports and performing arts the opportunity to visit Macau, Guangdong and Jiangxi Provinces, and to meet with similarly talented youths from those places for cultural exchange.


    Studying Studying Chinese culture, from traditional to modern

    Eight students representing the OUHK joined an exchange tour held in Beijing on 23-30 July. They were joined by more than 70 other tertiary students from Hong Kong and Beijing.

    While in Beijing, the students learned more about Chinese history and traditional culture, and were able to reflect on the inheritance and innovation of Chinese culture in the modern era. The tour was organized by the Centre for Overseas Academic and Cultural Exchanges of Tsinghua University.
