    Introduction

    The Bachelor of Social Sciences with Honours in Applied Social Studies is a top-up degree programme. Applicants can apply for admission to Senior Year.

    Senior year entry*   Programme code: BSSCHASSFS (full-time) / BSSCHASSFSP (part-time)
    * Applicants will be considered for admission to different years of the study programme depending on individual academic merits and other relevant factors.

    Applicants can select a full-time or part-time mode of study for this programme.

    Classes for this programme will normally be conducted on weekday evenings and/or weekends.

    Entry Requirement

     

    Aims

    This top-up programme aims to equip students with a solid understanding of the key areas in social sciences to familiarize them with the basics of social research, and enhance their capacity for self-development and adaptation to a constantly changing environment. After building up a solid understanding of the core concepts, theories and research techniques in psychology, sociology, political science, public administration and economics, students learn how to apply their knowledge to explain and predict social phenomena.

    Career prospects

    Graduates will be well-equipped with useful knowledge and transferable generic skills for careers in social and community services, education, social and business research, marketing, public relations and communication.

    Further studies

    Opportunities are available for the graduates of this programme to advance to postgraduate studies in Hong Kong and abroad. Some students continue to study for a master’s degree by coursework or research after graduation; and others pursue postgraduate studies part-time while working full-time. Some choose to study further in the fields of social work, criminology, sociology, political science, public administration and economics according to their career plans.
