    Students appointed Hong Kong Young Ambassadors

    Among all the members of the Hong Kong Young Ambassador Scheme 2013/14, full-time students Ng Ka-yee and Mok Ho-tung of the School of Arts and Social Sciences were presented with the Silver and Bronze Medals respectively at the award ceremony held on 15 August. The awards recognised their dedication in promoting Hong Kong tourism in the past year. Four other full-time students, namely Chan Hiu-tung, Wan Cho-tung and Wong Sin-yin from the School of Arts and Social Sciences and Kong Chak-hung from the School of Science and Technology were appointed as this year’s ambassadors.

    Business students win in business start-up competition

    Eight full-time students from the Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration Benny Tong, Lam Kwan-yung, Henry Chan Sau-hang, Kelvin Chan Wai-hong, Lau Cho-chi, Luk Wing-man, Tsang Mei-sze and Yim Chun-yip teamed up to compete in the ‘Help you to start your business’ Competition organized by the Hong Kong Computer & Communications Festival 2014. Each of the eight teams was provided an exhibition booth, and was required to work out a business plan, negotiate with suppliers, market products and formulate business strategies. Through these activities, the students gained invaluable experience of how to start and run a business. The OUHK team came through as champions and Kelvin Chan Wai-hong won the Best Presentation Award.

    Outstanding full-time student excels in community intern programme

    Full-time accounting student Chan Sze-ping joined 79 other business students from local universities in the Citi-HKCSS Community Intern Programme to undertake internships in local non-governmental organizations (NGOs). They worked in pairs and leveraged business intelligence and knowledge to assist their assigned NGOs in various projects. Sze-ping and her partner received the Award for Excellence, and were among six teams to receive an award recognizing their outstanding performance.

    Students become champions of micro film competition

    A group of eight year three Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Creative Writing and Film Arts students, Kwan Ho-wai, Ching Kin-ming, Cheung Yuk-han, Tsang Sze-kei, Lee Tsz-ching, Chung Ho-yin, Sun Wing-yi and Lau Hei-man, collectively known as ‘The Best Group’, won a micro film competition with their entry ‘The best to all the way’. The competition was jointly organized by the Hong Kong Federation of Industries and the Hong Kong Q-Mark Council.

    Accounting graduate wins bronze award in professional examination

    Bachelor of Professional Accounting with Honours graduate Li Hiu-wah was awarded the Bronze Award in the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants Qualification Programme Final Examination held in June this year. During her studies at the OUHK, Ms Li demonstrated academic excellence and attained the highest mark in Paper II of the Professional Bridging Examination of the Hong Kong Institute of Accredited Accountin
