Students selected for Youth Cultural Exchange Programme

Six full-time students from the School of Arts and Social Sciences were shortlisted for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Cultural Exchange Programme held from 9 to 18 July. They visited Hong Kong, Macau, Guangdong Province and Hunan Province, and took part in cultural exchange activities. The programme included 130 tertiary students with performing arts or sports talent who are studying at institutions in the three places. It was organized by the Home Affairs Bureau with the aim of promoting friendship and exchange, broadening the horizons of the younger generation and helping to lay the foundation of future development of arts and culture in the region.

    Military summer camp

Eleven OUHK students were among the 92 students shortlisted from local universities to take part in the 4th Military Life Experience Camp for Hong Kong College Students. Held at the San Wai Barracks in Fanling, the 15-day camp aimed to provide students with opportunities to learn more about the Hong Kong Garrison and to foster their self-discipline, obedience, spirit of unity and endurance. Various military training sessions on fitness, patrolling and shooting were arranged as well as lectures on military knowledge, and visits to military facilities.

Full-time students join exchange tours to Macau

A group of full-time students of the Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration and the School of Science and Technology were given the opportunity to join two exchange tours to Macau. The tours were sponsored by the CASH Education Fund. On 15 October, 17 business students attended a talk organized by the Macao Polytechnic Institute. Mr Lambert Chan, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Commercial) of TSL Jewellery, was invited to talk on brand-building, illustrated with the company’s case. A student discussion session was arranged after the talk, providing a platform for students of the two institutes to exchange views and ideas.

From 28 to 30 October, 25 full-time engineering students were given a taste of Macau and its development in engineering and information technology. On the exchange tour, the students visited the three local universities, namely the University of Macau’s new campus in Hengqin, Macau University of Science & Technology and Macao Polytechnic Institute, as well as the Communications Museum of Macau and the I.T. systems of the City of Dreams. They also attended forums and had the opportunity to discuss with local students and alumni.
