FIFA World Cup Final Match-watching Activity organized by the Students’ Union

President Prof. and Mrs Yuk-Shan Wong, Director of Finance Mr Santiago Chuen, Director of Public Affairs Mr Stephen Ng, Acting Director of Facilities Managment Mrs Cybill Lam and Acting Head of Student Affairs Office Dr Stephen Mann shared in the excitement with 70 students participating in the ‘FIFA World Cup Final Match-watching Activity’ organized by the Students’ Union on 14 July.


Annual performance of the Student Drama Society

The Annual Performance 2014 of the Student Drama Society, entitled ‘The Bald Soprano,’ was held on 19–20 April in the Ngau Chi Wan Civic Centre. After a successful show, the Society has already begun preparatory work for the Solstice Performance to be held in December, which will feature a performance of two original scripts. President’s lunch gathering with students

President Prof. Yuk-Shan Wong met with 15 students from various programmes at a luncheon on 28 May to exchange views on student support services, the student learning environment and possibilities for enrichment of campus life. Also joining the luncheon were Associate Vice President Prof. Ip Yiu-keung, Director of Public Affairs Mr Stephen Ng and Acting Head of Student Affairs Office Dr Stephen Mann.


Exchange Programme for Ten Thousand People — Tours to Dalian and Shenzhen

Launched in 2013 by the Ministry of Education, the ‘Exchange Programme for Ten Thousand People’ aims to provide tertiary students with opportunities to participate in exchange activities in the mainland. In June of this year, 19 full-time students attended the exchange tours organized by Dalian University of Foreign Languages and Shenzhen University respectively to learn more about the local cultures and social development of Shenzhen and Dalian through a range of activities, site visits and seminars.


New cabinet of student societies on board

Student Badminton Society

‘BANG’ is the sound of a shuttlecock being hit by a racket, and simultaneously represents the enthusiasm with which the new group of energetic students have kicked off the start of the term for new cabinet of the Student Badminton Society. A range of activities, such as badminton training classes and tournaments, will be held to enrich students’ campus life.

Rotaract Club

The fourth cabinet of the Rotaract Club, named ‘Jenga’ after a game of skill and strategy in which stacked, interlocking blocks are carefully removed, is composed of twelve office bearers, each of whom possesses different talents. The Club will organize activities and voluntary services for its participants, guiding them to concern needs of both local community and the world at large. Student Society of Management and Marketing (Full-time Programme)

The Student Society of Management and Marketing (Full-time Programme) was first established in 2008 with the aim of sharing the essence of management and marketing skills with fellow students. Various activities such as an orientation camp, career talks, a wine-tasting workshop, joint school high-table dinners and management case study competitions have been planned by the new cabinet. 2014 Mainland Experience Scheme for Post-secondary Students

Four groups of full-time students had the opportunity to get a taste of mainland China and Macau this summer. They joined study tours to study and to visit famous sites in Qingdao, Shanghai, Henan, Xian, Zhuhai and Macau respectively. The tours were supported by the Government’s Mainland Experience Scheme for Post-secondary Students and the OUHK, with an aim of providing students with first-hand opportunities to understand the prevailing social, economic and cultural landscape of China.
