LiPACE presents first-ever 'Entrance Scholarships' to Year 1 students

As part of its efforts to recruit more outstanding students, LiPACE is now, for the first time, offering ‘Entrance Scholarships’ to Year 1 students of full-time Higher Diploma or overseas degree programmes with stipulated HKDSE results. Twenty-seven students were awarded the scholarships and were invited to attend the presentation ceremony on 5 November 2013, which was also attended by Director of LiPACE Prof. Lui Yu-hon and a number of academic staff members.

Culinary Studies student cooks his way to victory in culinary competition

Jacky Chu, a student from the Diploma in Culinary Studies programme, was among the ten winners at ‘A Day with Alain Ducasse’, a culinary competition organized by the InterContinental Hong Kong. Jacky designed the winning dish ‘Sake-cooked Oyster with Crab Consommé Jelly’ with the advice of his instructor Mr Kirk Yan. Together with other winners, he had the opportunity to meet and learn from renowned French chef Alain Ducasse on 22 November 2013. ‘I thank Kirk for his guidance, and I was happy to meet many talented young chefs at the competition,’ he said.

Students from music programme perform on TV show

The acoustic band ‘Forest’, formed by five Year 2 students from the Bachelor of Music with Honours in Popular Music programme, was invited to give an interview on the TVB programme ‘Cultural Plaza’ last October. They also performed a song written and composed by members of the band.

    Lifelong Learning Seminars

On 26 November 2013, popular TV and radio host Mr Bob Lam was invited to the Lifelong Learning Seminar to share his work experiences as a Master of Ceremonies. With reference to his career change from the construction industry to the show business, Mr Lam asked students to have courage and to grab onto opportunities in order to make their dreams a reality. On 10 December, Mr Frank Lee, Greater China Business Team Leader of LINE PLUS Corporation from Korea, was invited to share his insights about the impact of instant mobile communication technology on social lives.
