    Master of Education in English Language Teaching
    Face-to-face postgraduate programme (full-time)
    This programme will not be offered in the 2019/2020 academic year.

    Programme description

    Full-time students can normally complete the programme in 12 months.

    Programme-specific entry requirements:
    (a) a recognized Bachelor’s Degree which includes a significant portion of courses in English language studies; and
    (b) an IELTS band score of 6.5 or above, or equivalent; and
    (c) an admission test/interview (where applicable).

    Degrees from the Open University of Hong Kong are recognized by the Hong Kong Government. Full-time degrees from the University are also recognized by the mainland China authorities. Graduates of this programme may use this qualification as a component of the qualification requirements stipulated by the Education Bureau (EDB) of the Hong Kong Government for English language teachers in local schools.

    Students pursuing this programme must successfully complete 60 credits* as follows:

    English Studies for Language Teaching (20)
    Exploring the Learning and Teaching of English (20)
    Curriculum, Learning and Society: Investigating Practice (20)

    Important note:
    # ENGL E810F and EDU E820F are courses with both face-to-face lectures and tutorials. EDU E846 is a distance learning course supported by face-to-face tutorials.
