    Certificate in Education — CED1

    Programme requirements

    This is a conversion programme specially designed for locally qualified teachers who wish to be 'retrained' for teaching English or  Chinese.
     

    Programme-specific entry requirements:

    1. hold a local PGDE/PCEd/BEd or equivalent; and

    2. be teaching English or Chinese in a secondary or primary school in Hong Kong for a minimum of five periods per week/cycle.#

    # You should have the consent of the principal of your school for classroom visits by University staff (your application must be accompanied by the completed consent letter).

    Students pursuing this programme must successfully complete 20 credits from the courses specified for the chosen strand as indicated below:

    Recognition

    • CED graduates will be considered to have a qualification equivalent to the OUHK's PGDE majoring in the relevant teaching subject.

    • The four language strands of the CED are recognized by the EDB as language major teacher training programmes.

    Certificate in Education — CED2

    For OUHK students or graduates who have completed one of the courses in the strand in CED1 they intend to apply for, another course will be assigned for completion of the programme. The code for your intended programme is CED2. You are advised to contact the School of Education and Languages for details before you make an application.
